About
Clara Voss paints the quiet hours. Working in oil on linen from a studio in coastal Maine, she returns again and again to still life and the domestic interior — a table, a bowl, the north light on a folded sheet.
She trained at the Rhode Island School of Design and has been painting full time since 2015. Her work is held in a small number of private collections in the United States and the United Kingdom.
She lives and works in Rockland, Maine.

On north light
The north window has stopped giving me what I want. Or I have stopped knowing what to ask of it.

What I'm reading
Three books on the studio shelf right now: a Morandi monograph, an Agnes Martin essay collection, and a translation of Bashō.

Open studios, March 14
I'll be in the studio Saturday March 14, 11am to 4pm. New work, work in progress, and a few small studies that won't make it to the show.
